A NEWLY formed children's fund-raising organisation wants £3,000 to send a Lowton teenager and her family on a Florida holiday.
Vicky Jones, 15, of Kenyon Lane, is currently in remission after intensive 12 months chemotherapy treatment for a nasal tumour.
Now Julie Norcross and Debbie Kendrick from Darbyshire House, based in Arthur Street, Leigh, are holding a fundraising event at the Village Inn, Higher Folds, on Monday in an attempt to boost the fund.
The organisation, set up only six months ago, aims to raise funds to help children who have a handicap caused by cancer or its treatment.
And Julie said: "We are very keen to raise the money to send Vicky with her mum, dad and brother away for the holiday of a lifetime in Florida, and we hope the public of Leigh will support us.
In June there's a show jumping event in Astley and they are hoping someone will come forward and offer the use of a large marquee for this event or the fun day on Monday.
Vicky's mum Rita commented: "We are delighted that Darbyshire House are trying to raise money to send Vicky on what would be a special holiday."
Anyone who wishes to donate to the appeal can contact Darbyshire House on 01942 741325.
