A SHORT snippet of Preston's history has been sold to developers for office space.

The former County Court built in the 1960s in Winckley Square was made redundant when the new Crown Court opened.

But it could soon see a brief of solicitors moving in permanently when its new owners transform it into small office units.

John Bretherton of Eckersley and Co property consultants, said: "We were inviting offers in excess of £325,000 but it sold for well in excess of the asking price."

And he admitted that most interested parties he took round the building had memories of the court - from one side of the bench or another!
