A TAKEAWAY boss fears his business will go down the pan if councillors stop him opening after the pubs close.
Kebab shop partner Kaya Huyuk has been opening until midnight to cater for late night drinkers - despite laws saying he has to shut an hour earlier.
Mr Huyuk, who runs the Leyland Charcoal Grill on Chapel Brow, admits he's under orders by the local council to close at 11pm but claims it would mean the end of his livelihood.
He said: "We want the extra hour because that's when we make money. We tried opening in the day but there was no business.
"I've got a wife and three children to look after. I'm not making enough money," he complained.
Council officers began monitoring the shop after a call from a nearby takeaway.
Manager of The Golden Phoenix, Chapel Brow who made the complaint, said: "I'm not being selfish I'm telling the truth. We are losing money - about £100 a day."
The Golden Phoenix can open all hours because it was in business long before the trading time regulations came into effect.
Its manager went on: "I'm paying rent every week just to watch all the customers go over there."
Area Planning Officer John Crellin said: "They knew of the hours when they bought the takeaway and knew they would have to abide by them."
Councillors were expected to approve the recommendation at a meeting yesterday (May 21).
