TYLDESLEY RU have just agreed terms with Worldwide Express Courier DHL for club sponsorship of the 1997-98 season.

The agreement is the biggest sponsorship deal Tyldesley have been involved in during its 117-year history and means the Well Street club will be wearing the famous DHL logo on their shirts at the start of next season.

Executive chairman Derek Robinson is understandably delighted, but added the club would continue in its fund-raising events to keep the club facilities up to scratch.

He said "Last season we did well with support from many local companies and we hope that continues. But we will be looking for new support from within the community."

DHL's Manchester-based manager Martin Noble was impressed with the club's friendly atmosphere and its ambitions to progress both on and off the field over the next year.

Local company E & I Eaton will be sponsoring the Second XV's shirts for the 1997/98 campaign.
