KHALID JHUGROO was in stunning form as youngsters from Tyldesley SC enjoyed great success at the City of Salford Spring Meet.
He took the Top Boy award in his age group after winning the 400 freestyle, knocking SIX seconds off his PB to achieve his first NQT.
Khalid then won the 200 IM in a cracking finish, was second in the 100 freestyle and breaststroke events (both in PBs), third in the 100 butterfly (PB) and fourth in the 100 backstroke.
Also achieving a NQT was 13-year-old Stuart Carlisle, who knocked six seconds off his PB in the open age 200 backstroke.
He was also second in the 100 backstroke and was fifth in both the 100 freestyle and butterfly (PB).
Also swimming in the 13-Year group, Kate Ward was just pipped at the post in the 100 freestyle by 100th of a second to take silver spot (PB and NQT). But she took revenge on the same opponent in the 200 freestyle (PB, NQT) and was second in the 100 butterfly as well as setting PBs in the 200 IM and 400 freestyle.
The Hampson brothers, Richard and Matthew, secured first positions in their 16-Year and 14-Year butterfly events, Richard also winning the 200 freestyle (PB) and Matthew the 200 IM (PB).
Eleven-year-old sister Maria Hampson produced a PB in the 100 butterfly for sixth position.
In the 11-Year section Matthew Concannon, David Gendall, Mark Hurst and Liam Whalley shared multiple final placings. Matthew won the 100 breaststroke (PB) and set PBs in the 200 freestyle and 200 IM; Liam was third in the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly (all PBs); David was third in the 100 breaststroke, fourth in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 100 freestyle (all PBs) as well as a PB in the 200 IM; and Mark was fourth in the 100 freestyle, fifth in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle (all PBs) as well as sixth in the 100 backstroke.
Jenny Sparkes set a PB in the 11-Year 200 freestyle.
At 12-Year Jessica Howarth hit a PB in her heat on her way to securing second spot in the 100 butterfly; Samantha Greensmith followed suit for fifth in the same event.
Samantha also set PBs with Stephanie Thompson in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 200 IM events, with Kelly Banner also setting a PB in the 100 freestyle.
Rounding off the 12-Year events came James Gendall, fifth in the 200 IM (PB), 100 backstroke (PB) and 100 butterfly, and Stephen Riley, who produced good swims in the breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke.
Andrew Hurst, 14, set a PB in the 1,500 freestyle for fourth and was sixth in the 100 freestyle.
Simon Clare, 16, was fourth in the 200 freestyle, fifth in the 100 freestyle and sixth in both the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly (PB).
Meanwhile, in club galas the senior league team lost to Ramsbottom but scored wins against Atherton and Ashton-u-Lyne. In the Junior Jubilee Tyldesley beat Stalybridge and Rochdale in Round One.
