A BURY woman is using her healing hands to help bring comfort to former war-torn Sarajevo.
Mrs Mavis Lawton (60), set off from her Greenfield Close home yesterday for a two-week stay in the country.
During her time in the former Yugoslavia she will use the hands-on holistic Reiki Japanese healing technique to soothe hospital patients and orphans.
Mrs Lawton, a semi-retired office manager, first became involved in Reiki six years ago when she and her husband, Ian, visited a psychic fair.
Since then she has practised and taught the technique at Bury Complementary Health Centre in Tenterden Street.
