DESIGNER jewellery maker Charlotte Speak has been deaf from birth but is learning all about computers, thanks to Burnley ITeC and her hearing dog Fleck.
Charlotte, 28, has been using her silversmith skills since graduating from Birmingham University but is planning a career change.
She is being taught in the microsoft office at the information technology centre, which includes word processors, spread sheets, databases and desk top publishing systems. The free course leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
Fleck is always at her side. Charlotte, of Read, got the spaniel two years ago through the Deaf Society and has never looked back.
She said: "I'd like a job using a computer in design work."
Anyone who is unemployed, facing redundancy or receiving benefit has the chance to learn computing free at ITeC. More information from Jane Barton on 01282 434327.
