WOULD-BE credit card cheats Sibtain Abbas and Amjid Mohammed made a major mistake in their attempt to steal - they were the wrong sex.

A court at Bury heard how they men produced a credit card to try and pay for the goods at Currys store and an alert staff member spotted that it belonged to a woman.

The previous day the Barclaycard had been stolen from a female student in Leeds. Within hours of taking the card 22-year-old Sibtain, of Shepherd Street, Bury, and Amjid, (20) of Spring Street, Bury, attempted to purchase a £380 Sony Playstation plus computer games from the store.

In court, the two men both pleaded guilty to attempting to dishonestly obtain property and also to stealing the Barclaycard.

The case was adjourned until June 12, for social enquiry reports.
