SCHOOLGIRL Salena Prescot has been given her marching orders - and she couldn't be happier!
For the 15-year-old from Alford Avenue, Sutton Manor is one of only 12 army cadets in the country to be picked for a six-week exchange trip to Canada.
Salena, who is a sergeant in the Widnes detachment of the Cheshire army cadets, beat off stiff competition to become the highest ranking cadet to make the trip in July.
A pupil at De La Salle School, Eccleston, she made the grade after becoming a four-star senior cadet instructor, completing a silver Duke of Edinburgh award and taking a UK Landforces leadership course.
The trip, organised and funded by the Ministry of Defence, will involve a gruelling two-week patrol and expedition and a community project involving Canadian Indians.
