A WOMAN has warned shoppers to be on their guard after seeing her handbag snatched from her car in a smash-and-grab incident on a supermarket car park.
Trish Donlan (48) from Chiltern Road, Parr, had left the bag - containing £300 in cash, credit cards and personal belongings - on the passenger seat of her car while she returned her trolley at the Morrison's store in Baxters Lane, Sutton.
As she returned to the car, a maroon-coloured Vauxhall Cavalier pulled alongside and a man in his 20s got out and smashed the window before snatching the bag.
The car, containing three men and a woman, all in their 20s, then drove out of the car park but was later found abandoned a short distance away on the New Street estate.
Now petrol station attendant Trish is urging other shoppers to be wary. She said: "A lot of people use the supermarket and should beware of leaving bags unattended in their cars."
