DO you have a nose for news and an eye for some spare-time cash? If so, we want to hear from you.For the Lancashire Evening Telegraph is recruiting community correspondents.

Two years ago we expanded our news gathering team by establishing a network of correspondents across East Lancashire.

We were so pleased with the results that we decided to strengthen that network.

We want to hear from people who feel they can contribute to the Evening Telegraph, put their community on the map and earn themselves some spare-time cash.

Our existing team of community correspondents have provided hundreds of snippets of news about their towns or villages and in addition given us tips that our reporters have followed up to develop into major stories.

Don't forget, we exist to report what is happening in our community - the Telegraph is YOUR paper.

A large team of professional reporters is out and about in the area every day of the week reporting on events.

But they cannot be everywhere and we want to give as comprehensive a coverage of the local communities of East Lancashire as we possibly can. Our existing team of community correspondents are ordinary people from all walks of life. They have one thing in common. They want to help us to provide news for their local communities. Now we want more like them. Through our correspondents we want to hear about the events that make our towns and villages tick - from the church jumble sale to the burning local issue.

No item is too small. We want to hear about everything that is going on in East Lancashire.

The Lancashire Evening Telegraph is not only here to report on the murders, fires, crashes, courts, council rows and local politics. We want to cover everything that interests our readers.

We did not form the original community correspondents team on the strength of a whim. We regularly speak to readers and ask them what they want to see in their local evening paper.

The response that comes back loudest of all is "we want more local news".

And our team of community correspondents helps us to do exactly that.
