CONCORDE could swoop over Cliviger when the village holds its spring carnival on Monday (May 26).
If conditions allow, the supersonic jet will put in a special low-level appearance after it takes off from Manchester on a holiday charter flight to Toronto.
Members of the carnival committee have asked British Airways about the stunt, and the company says that the decision rests with flight control and the plane's captain. The weather on the day will be crucial.
"We are keeping our fingers crossed for good visibility on Monday," said Jackie Hodgson, chairman of RACA, the group which raises funds for Cliviger recreation area.
"The flight could be made by the aircraft after it passes over Pole Hill beacon, which is situated above Cliviger.
"A BA spokesman, Graham Butler, said our request would be passed on to flight control at Manchester Airport."
TV's John McArdle and his actress wife Kathy Jameson will open the carnival, on Mount Lane sports field, at noon.
Proceeds will go to RACA's appeal to raise £25,000 to pay for a new play area.
