JASON Gallian and Peter Martin have fired jubilant England a message: Don't forget us.
As Mike Atherton's men completed their Texaco Trophy whitewash at The Oval, Gallian and Martin produced Sunday best performances against Northants to keep Lancashire on top of the Axa Life League - and keep their names in the England frame.
Gallian batted all through the innings for the second Sunday in succession to hit his first century in the competition, while Martin grabbed 5-21 as Northants were thrashed by 75 runs.
And Martin said: "We've given them a good rissoling. After getting such a good score we wanted early wickets to put pressure on them and that's exactly what happened."
Lancashire are still bottom of the Championship after Saturday's dull draw, but shrugged off the absence of their England trio yesterday with their most convincing one-day performance of the season.
Padiham professional Mark Harvey came in for his debut although he did not bat, while Paddy McKeown staked his claim for a regular Sunday place with 37 from 46 balls. But it was Gallian who dominated the innings, reaching three figures from 111 balls with nine fours and a six off John Emburey. The 25-year-old is better known for marathon efforts in Championship cricket like his 312 against Derbyshire last year. But he is also a crucial member of Lancashire's one-day team and is enjoying one of the most consistent runs of his career.
Since suffering a pair in last week's Championship game against Notts he has scored 260 runs in four innings and only been dismissed once and Martin added: "Gally has really got the bit between his teeth at the moment.
"We have been short of batting with the England guys away and Gally hasn't waited for the next man to take responsibility - he's taken it all on himself."
Then Martin's opening burst of 3-16 in six overs helped reduce Northants to 27-4, with skipper Mike Watkinson adding a run out with a direct hit.
Rob Bailey salvaged respectability with 67 from 66 balls, but Martin returned to fire out the tail and beat his previous Sunday best of 5-32 in Durham three years ago.
More good news for Lancashire came with Kent's shock defeat at Sussex which leaves Essex as the only other 100 per cent side. But they must now start producing some form in the Championship, starting with Wednesday's visit to 1996 winners Leicestershire.
