ON behalf of the Civic Trust and everyone involved in this year's BT Environment Week, I would like to thank readers for their contributions to the event which have made it our most successful year ever!
We estimate more than 1,250,000 people actively did something in their area to improve their environment for the benefit of their community.
More than 4,000 projects were registered and canals, rivers, derelict land, school grounds and many other areas have benefited as a result.
And a lot of the work continues - some projects started during BT Environment Week will go on all year.
So to all those unsung, committed individuals and teams in all parts of the UK, congratulations and thank you once again.
MICHAEL GWILLIAM, Director, The Civic Trust.
