VINCE Overson's Second Division build-up begins tomorrow.
The strapping centre-half has sacrificed his summer holiday and is instead booked in for a gruelling training schedule at Lilleshall.
Manager Adrian Heath observed: "I sat down and had a long chat with Vince last week and he is very confident he will be back for the start of pre-season training.
"He signed a two-year contract when he came from Stoke and I fully believe he will see that through.
"Last season was a complete disaster for him. He only played a handful of games for us and spent the rest of the time fighting off injury.
"That was really frustrating for the player because I know how much Vince likes to be part of the action.
"He is a fighter and the sort of player you want on your books. I know how desperate he is to play for Burnley again because this is the club he loves.
"He will be working doubly hard over the next six weeks We missed his presence last season, especially in the last month, and to have him fully fit again would be a big bonus for us."
Overson has not kicked a ball in senior action since tearing a cartilage in an Auto Windscreens Shield tie at Hartlepool last December. But, with the Clarets reporting back for pre-season training in the first week of July, Overson is determined to put his injury misery behind him.
Heath added: "Vince would have played a major part in the final month of the season and we definitely missed his experience in the dressing room and out on the pitch.
"I am absolutely confident he will fit and ready for the start of pre-season training."
The Clarets Independent Supporters Association stage their annual general meeting at the Park View public house tomorrow (7.30pm).
Heath was due at Wembley today to watch Sheffield United's First Division play-off final against Crystal Palace.
Burnley will be visiting the Sixfields Stadium for the first time next season after Northampton Town clinched promotion via the Division Three play-off final on Saturday. Crewe Alexandra won a place in Division One after beating Brentford 1-0 yesterday.
Crewe boss Dario Gradi said: "I have always been confident we would get to the first division. We have got there ahead of schedule and it's nice to know that we can actually achieve something, and something quite considerable.
"We have dreamt about it but we hardly dared think about playing the likes of Middlesbrough and Manchester City."
