AS my mayoral year has now ended, I must express my most sincere thanks and those of my consort, Mr Keith Ladd, to everyone in the Borough for their kindness and support throughout the year.
The people of Blackburn with Darwen have been wonderful and have also generously supported my mayoral charity with donations and events.
All too often we hear of the bad things in our society, so it is extremely good to experience the kindness and generosity of people who are striving to create an improved society for us all.
I have had a truly wonderful year and will have many happy memories of my time as Mayor to look back upon.
COUN MARY LEAVER, (Mayor, 1996/97), Blackburn Council.
