A SPECIAL trophy will be awarded this year to the first local novice home in the Barnoldswick Weets Fell Race.
The race on August 3 starts from the Rolls-Royce sports ground and makes its way to the summit of Weets and back - a total of six miles.
It is the 27th Weets Race but the first to have a trophy for the first novice, thanks to the Round Table.
Co-organiser Mark Sandamas said: "Now is the right time to start training.
"With nine weeks to go there is sufficient time for anyone just taking up running to get fit enough to enjoy the race.
"My advice is to take things nice and easy initially and run at a comfortable pace.
"Then gradually increase the distance of your training runs."
There are senior and junior races, and under-17s complete a three-mile race while under-14s run two miles.
