ADRIAN Heath today denied that Peter Beagrie is in his transfer sights.
But the Turf Moor boss did reveal that he tried to lure Beagrie to Turf Moor on transfer deadline day.
Two reports in Manchester say Burnley are poised to renew their interest before the start of next season.
Heath said: "I asked Manchester City about Peter Beagrie on transfer deadline but that is as far as the situation has gone.
"He was just recovering from a couple of long term injuries and it would have proved too much of a risk. I've not spoken to Frank Clark at Manchester City since then and I've had no fresh contact with the player." Beagrie is out of contract at Maine Road and there are several clubs believed to be in the hunt for the 31-year-old, who was ruled out for over a year with an Achilles tendon injury. Heath insisted: "I am always interested in bringing quality players to Burnley and my search will go on."
Meanwhile, striker Liam Robinson, released by Burnley earlier this month, is having talks with Third Division Notts County.
I understand Robinson met County manager Sam Allardyce at Meadow Lane earlier this week and is believed to chewing over an offer.
Jimmy Mullen signed the hard-running forward from Bristol City for £250,0000 in 1994 and made over 50 appearances for the Clarets.
However, he did not feature in Adrian Heath's plans and his Turf Moor release came as no surprise.
Goalkeeper Wayne Russell is believed to be interesting both Cardiff City and Torquay United.
The Clarets reserve team goalkeeper was one of several players released at the end of last season.
