THE jobs of nearly 650 Burnley workers hung in the balance after the second devastating industrial blow to the town within hours.
Cooker manufacturer Belling had gone into receivership, placing the jobs of 300 workers at Compound Engineering in jeopardy.
The news followed hard on the heels of the announcement that Burnley Engineering Products, employing 340 workers, would close unless a buyer was found.
