EUROPEAN Council rules restricting imports of furs from countries still using leghold traps were adopted in 1991 and set to go into effect by 1995. Two years later, they still have not been implemented.
The EC is proposing we accept the continued use of leghold traps by other countries, in defiance of both the European parliament and the EU Council.
This is unethical and unacceptable.
In June, the European Council is meeting to determine the fate of millions of fur-bearing animals destined for death in excruciating leghold traps.
For the cost of a 20 pence stamp you can write to the PM at 10 Downing Street, urging him to vote to ban them.
