THE Queen was rumoured to have vetoed Tory plans to sell-off the Royal Mail. Mrs Thatcher hinted at the Royal 'no' when speaking about the Government's privatisation plans if she won the election.
She backed a sell-off of the water and electricity industries, but said the Royal Mail was 'quite different' and should remain in state control.
The premier refused to give any further explanation of the U-turn on Royal Mail privatisation.
