THE Provost of Blackburn Cathedral needed stitches to a head wound after falling from his chair.
The Very Rev David Frayne was attending a service in celebration of Christianity at Whalley Abbey when the seat toppled over, causing him to bang his head on a stone.
Mr Frayne was treated at Blackburn Royal Infirmary and was expected to return to work today following a day's sick leave.
Hundreds of worshippers took part in pageants across East Lancashire at the weekend.
