A LIST of official figures has revealed Pendle Council has the worst record for collecting council tax in the North West.
A table giving details of collection rates was published this week by the Government and Pendle has had the worst record for the region over the last two years.
Council tax chiefs in Pendle collected just 90 per cent of council tax last year. The next lowest in the North West was Salford with 91.1 per cent.
Rossendale Council had the worst record in Lancashire for collecting business rates were with 89.9 per cent.
The Ribble Valley has the best council tax collection record in the county at 96.6 per cent. Chorley has the best record for collecting business rates at 98.4 per cent but that is a drop from last year's figure of 99.9 per cent.
Blackburn town hall officials collected 93 per cent of outstanding council tax in the borough and the second highest business rate figure in the county with 98 per cent.
