WATER chiefs ruled out fluoride for the region's supplies.
In a surprise snub to the regional health authority, North West Water turned down its request for fluoridation after claiming there was no 'substantial support' in the community. This sparked a row between the privatised water company and health chiefs.
Regional dental officer Geoffrey Taylor, said opinion polls showed 79 per cent of the public in favour.
