FORGIVE me for appearing rather confused regarding the article (LET, May 27) on the appointment of a second chief executive - Mr P Watson - at Blackburn Town Hall at a salary of £80,000 per year.
In my limited involvement with redundancies, I have always been of the opinion that the job is made redundant not the person (in this case, Mr G Davies).
If this is so, why does your article state that a 'redundancy settlement' will have to be drawn up for Mr Davies?
If Mr Davies has been sacked, fired, dismissed, had his contract terminated - whatever you wish to call it for whatever reason - why should Blackburn Council be drawing up a financial settlement for him?
