PUPILS were given the chance to see a Land Rover they helped pay for before it is shipped off to Africa to help their teacher run a charity project.
Heather Jeffery, a teacher at St Paul's Primary School, Nelson, and husband Eddie are off to Tanzania in the summer.
They will run a remote orphanage under the Bethany Project, a scheme run by Accrington-based Christian group Northern Evangelical Trust.
Money to cover the cost of the £25,000 off-road vehicle was also raised by a number of East Lancashire churches.
Heather and Eddie, who live in Nelson, plan to spend two years in Tanzania and need the Land Rover to transport themselves and the children to and from the remote orphanage.
"It was just amazing to see it standing there after all the fund-raising and effort," said Heather.
