PUPILS have thrown out a Challenge Anneka-style appeal to do-it-yourselfers to help refurbish the school's drama studio.

The teenagers are hoping local trades people and others will come forward to lend a helping hand to give the studio at West Craven High School, Barnoldswick, a much-needed new look.

Each Year 9 class at the school was asked to come up with a project and one came up with the bright idea of completing the work on the studio within a two-day deadline.

The students have raised about £100 to help pay for the work but now they need help from local people to complete the challenge.

Year head Anne Fothergill explained: "There are a lot of holes in the walls which need filling and replastering.

"Shutters need putting up on the windows to black out the room and the walls need repainting and carpets need putting on the floor. "We're hoping to get it done in the next few weeks but we need some help from other people and we're hoping they will come forward to offer their help and materials.

"The pupils can do some things but not everything and they need some help."

A meeting is to be held at the school on June 12 at 7pm to allow people to come along and see the studio and offer any help.

Anyone interested is asked to contact the school if they are planning to attend.
