MRS Thatcher lashed back at tormentors accusing her of fearing her health would not be safe in NHS hands.

She defended her right to insure for private treatment only minutes after Neil Kinnock highlighted the case of a 10-year-old boy whose open heart surgery had been postponed.

The Prime Minister had private treatment for eye trouble, a claw hand and a varicose veins.
