THE controversial film Crash, which shows people being sexually excited by car accidents and flesh wounds, will not be shown in Lancashire cinemas this week.
However, the film, which is released on Friday, may be shown later if there is enough demand.
Andrew Smith, manager of Apollo Leisure's new nine-screen Hollywood Park cinema in Burnley, said there were no plans to show the film at the moment.
But he added that this may change if there was enough demand from cinemagoers wanting to see the film, which has been passed by the censor with an 18 certificate.
"We've no plans to show it at the moment but we've not ruled it out," he said. "It depends on the public's reaction."
Apollo Leisure also owns the Apollo cinema in Blackburn and Unit Four in Brierfield.
Other cinema chains in Lancashire are also not currently showing the film which is released on Friday.
Councils in East Lancashire have said they would not ban the film unless there was a public outcry.
The film seems destined to play only to "arthouse" cinemas such as Manchester's Cornerhouse.
