SEVEN go-karts were destroyed in a blaze which swept through Morecambe's Frontierland on Tuesday night. Firefighters spent more than two hours putting out the fire which started in a Portakabin, containing fuel, at the back of the theme park.
It was stopped before it spread to the Fun House, the gas main and the main electricity supply to the park.
Police say the Portakabin door, which had been locked earlier that evening, was open when they arrived. An investigation is now under way to find out how the fire started.
Sub officer Stephen Carter said: "When we arrived the go kart section was quite badly destroyed." A Frontierland spokesman said: "At this stage there is no clue as to the cause of the fire. An assessment of the costs is being undertaken."
Frontierland was open as usual yesterday.
