HAYDOCK CC's second string saw victory snatched from their grasp when they slipped to a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Norley Hall.
Haydock had looked to be on course for a win until the last four overs.
Haydock were asked to bat first, but lost skipped Paul Reid after only four overs. But Gary Conley and Chris Bridge repaired the damage with a century stand for the second wicket.
Bridge departed for 48, but Conley and Talbot (24) continued the good work. Conley completed his half-century before being dismissed. A flurry by Tony Dncan, David Jones and Ian Bolton saw Haydock reach 177-7 off their 50 overs.
After tea Haydock soon had the Wiganers in trouble as Jones removed their opener for a duck.
Norley staged something of a recovery before Reid and Stephen Bridge pegged them back.
With four overs left Norley needed 30. They set about their task with gusto and reched the target with five balls to spare.
For Haydock Martin Banks was outstanding in the field.
