I READ with much interest and concern the fine, informative letter from Jane Nearney of the GMPTE, in reply to my letter, about the proposed Leigh busway.
It is nice to know someone has listened to my view and commonsense on the issue.
If the members of GMPTE are sincere in their consideration then Jane, love, make a rail-line, not just a possibility but a reality. This would answer the problem handsdown and benefit all the people of Leigh and Tyldesley, as the old BR did years ago.
Atherton has its own railway, why should we be left out in the cold?
I am sure most people would prefer to travel to Manchester and back in a speedy, light railway, like the popular trams on the Manchester Metrolink.
I am not asking for the full return to the good, old days - I know that is seeking too much.
I am now in my 66th year. May I live to see and travel on trains again through Tyldesley before it is too late. Let's have trains, not just buses, in the future.
