WORKERS at Baxi are in for a massive cash bonus after the company announced a record turnover of more than £100 million.

The Bamber Bridge-based heating firm made pre-tax profit of £11 million, more than double that of last year. And workers at the employee-owned company could receive a bonus amounting to as much as 10 per cent of their salaries.

Chief executive Bryan Gray said: "Everyone has just cause to be proud of the achievements of the last four years and the fact that Baxi is probably in a healthier position now than at any time in its long successful history."

He put their success down to a culmination of the last four years' hard work.

"It's our policy to share our profits with employees," he said: "And I am pleased that we have been able to declare a profit share of £2.1 million."

Baxi Partnership was formed as an employee-owned company in 1983 and currently has three main divisions; heating, air management, and engineering components.

The record performance is set to continue with the opening of a new aluminium foundry in Leyland in June which is expected to create 100 new jobs.

Mr Gray added: "We want to expand, sell more outside the UK and make more in the UK."
