TRAVELLING on the Metrolink will cost a fare bit more.
From Monday fares on the tram line will be subject to an average increase of five per cent, or 10 pence, to travel daily from Bury to Manchester City Centre.
Season tickets will rise slightly over three per cent with quarterly tickets to Zone 4 (Manchester centre) increasing by £5 to £166 and annual passes rising from £630 to £645.
Although the increases are above the current rate of inflation Metrolink chiefs say the fare rises reflect below inflation increases in single and return tickets prices since the service opened five years ago. Season tickets have never been raised.
The increase are as a result of rises in operation costs.
