A SPECIAL Task Group has been set up by St Helens Council to decide how the town will mark celebrations for the new Millennium.
The group has already received a number of suggestions from local people and among the ideas now being considered are:
A Millennium Heritage Trail which would highlight significant sites across St Helens using plaques.
A St Helens Art Festival featuring work from a range of local artists.
A Millennium Exhibition on display at the Hotties World of Glass.
A commemorative tapestry with panels on the town's history.
A town centre show including a variety of events and an expanded St Helens Show.
The Task Group now plan to hold a public consultation exercise to seek more ideas and all suggestions will then be evaluated by the group. They will also be making a decision on whether to hold a New Year's Eve firework and laser display in the town.
