BARNOLDSWICK outplayed Great Harwood to claim a place in the Vaux Ramsbottom Cup semi-finals. They skittled the Ribblesdale League leaders' normally solid line-up for 148 and then displayed some fine batting to reach 149 for the loss of three wickets.

Professional Bruce Hara made 58 and Justin Manville hit 74 to score the bulk of the runs. The Victory Park side take on Ribblesdale Wanderers in the semi-finals on June 22.

In the Vaux senior league matches Earby tied with Clitheroe, who missed a run-out chance to win. Nigel Pickles scored 87 as Earby reached Clitheroe's total,168, with eight wickets down.

Barlick's Ian Scothern made 95 not out to help his team to a nine-wicket victory over Whalley after the Ribble Valley side made 181-5.

Mark Harvey was the star of Padiham's eight-wicket win against Edenfield, who, batting first, made 195-9. Harvey hit a fine 108 not out and received able support from Andy Hall (64).

Read found that Oswaldtwistle's 233-6 was beyond them, especially as they had to contend with some good bowling from Andy Hornsby, who took 5-43 as Read reached 183-9

In division one there were wins for Burnley Belvedere, Burnley GSOB and Padiham, and Read won their division-two match. In the Lawrenson Cup Earby beat Padiham by three wickets, Rolls-Royce lost by 103 runs to Whalley, and Burnley GSOB beat Old Rossendalians by 46 runs.
