TWO projects in East Lancashire are to receive a share of a £7.9 million Government cash injection to help single homeless youngsters.
Blackburn's Nightsafe Trust and Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service's housing aid scheme are among the 195 projects chosen for cash during the year 1997/98.
Nightsafe will receive £12,831 and the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale housing scheme gets £15,079.
Paula Kaniuk of Nightsafe said: "We have to apply for this money and have been lucky enough to get it for the last five years.
"We are delighted and this will mean we will be able to continue to work to help homeless young people."
Just under £600,000 of the £7.9 million has been allocated for the North West.
And Housing Minister Hilary Armstrong said the Government was committed to helping vulnerable people and prevent homelessness.
She said: "The projects announced today will provide advice and support to single people who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.
"Without this help, some people could find themselves facing a life on the streets.
"The targeting of resources through local agencies working on the ground makes full use of the money available and is money well spent."
