EX-MINER Jack Nadin had to dig deep to research his second book on the coal mines of East Lancashire.
Jack has spent 10 years researching the book, which is a follow up to his 36-page booklet on Hapton Valley Colliery where he used to work.
He worked at the pit from 1970 to 1976 and dedicated his book to the memory of the 19 miners who lost their lives in the colliery explosion on March 22 1962.
Mr Nadin, who now runs a guest house on Willow Street, Burnley, said: "I realised when I looked round the library there were books on the history of various industries from this area but not mining."
His exploration into the history was backed by publishers The Northern Mine Research Society and his book will be available in libraries in Nelson, Burnley and Accrington from next week.
