THE Rev Peter Grierson (LET, May 29) believes that the growing number of prostitutes and burglaries is linked to heroin addiction and that it is up to the citizens to turn informer.
Now, if a change has to come about with today's young people it must come from within. Most welfare money and NHS money is spent on young people.
Promiscuity, begging, birth control, abortion, live-in partners and divorce are all products of this 'with it' society. Warn them about drugs and they laugh. But I'm not sorry for today's gutless kids.
I'm sorry when they say they feed their habit by burglaries. I'm sorry for all the innocent thousands who have lost personal possessions or had their peace of mind stolen by these mindless yobs. They choose today to go on drugs and won't listen to warnings.
Perhaps we should take a leaf from the Bible when they had leper colonies and put them on an island where they can do their 'own thing' and take the consequences for their own action instead of everyone else trying to help them.
God helps those who help themselves or at least have the sense and the guts to learn to say no.
