MOSQUE officials who accepted a £300,000 lottery cash donation are going against the Koran and sayings of the Prophet Mohammed, the leader of an Islamic group has claimed.
Mr Mustafa Khan, president of the Islamic Foundation for New Muslims, has joined some members of the Blackburn Masjid-Al-Momineen Mosque in criticising the decision of senior officials for accepting the money from the £18 million lottery winner.
A leaflet is being circulated urging all Muslims to 'stop this crime' and claiming the money will be used to build a community centre.
Mr Khan said: "I am fully aware that many people gamble, but the fact still remains it is haram money which is unlawful and may not be used for anything to do with the Muslims.
"Giving haram money to charity and any earnings from a community centre would also be unlawful. These people are going against the Koran and the sayings of the Prophet Mohammed."
