REGARDING your article (LET, May 30) on people riding bicycles on the pavements, it is an offence.
My brother and I were caught doing it in 1929 and had to pay a fine of 7s 6d (37p) or face seven days in jail. I was only ten and my brother was 12. I am now 80 but never forgot it.
