TELEVISION presenter Phillip Schofield switched to the big screen for the gala opening of a new multi-screen Cinema.

Hollywood Park was the place to be last night as the official opening of the Burnley Apollo Cinema complex was marked by the European premiere of Father's Day, a film starring comedy duo Robin Williams and Billy Crystal.

It will not be on general release until October.

Phillip's white stretch limo and an American Dixieland band added to the night's Hollywood theme.

The children's TV favourite, West End stage star and all-round presenter cut a ribbon to officially open Hollywood Park.

The film showing followed a champagne reception and the night was rounded off with a supper and a massive fireworks display that could be seen and heard for miles.

The nine-screen complex, which opened its doors to the public at the end of last month, has already proved a big success with cinema-goers.

More than 5,000 people watched films in the first three days of it opening.

The Hollywood Park complex, which is on the site of the former Do It All DIY store in Manchester Road, is one of only three in the country to a have a director's auditorium with a licensed bar and luxury seats.
