MANY readers will, we are sure, join us in bidding a sad farewell to a family favourite as they learn of the death of former Lancashire Evening Telegraph cartoonist Jack Tipping.
He had a unique talent that captured the funny side of life and of events of the day in the "Tipping's Topic" slot that was a front-page feature of the Evening Telegraph for decades until his retirement 11 years ago.
With a wit as sharp as his skill as a cartoonist, Jack never failed to draw a smile - an enviable ability that brought a touch of cheer each day to tens of thousands of people in East Lancashire.
It made the expression, "family favourite" his fitting description during his long years with us and his deserved epitaph today.
