LOCAL pint-pullers are bringing a mini version of Bob Geldof's Live Aid to Leyland.

The Seven Stars pub on Leyland Lane is treating the town to twelve hours of non-stop live music to raise funds for Royal Preston Hospital's Special Baby Care Unit.

Baby Band-Aid boasts a line-up of 17 North West bands showing off their different musical styles, from traditional folk to indie and pop tunes.

The acts include Chris Bannister, Coloured Rain, Running Hot, China Street and North and Shady.

Seven Stars staff are donating the day's wages to the cause, and the caterers have pledged to put on the grub for nothing.

Landlord Dave Hardman said: "It's scandalous that children can die just because of a lack of money. Sometimes sick babies are shifted from hospital to hospital because there's not enough equipment to treat them.

"I was born prematurely and weighed in at less than two pounds. It was touch and go whether I would survive but I made if after being put in an incubator."

The charity concert has reached its fourth year and wants to top last year's figure of £5,500. Brewers Bass Taverns have kicked off the cash with £1,000, and British Aerospace has promised to match money made, pound for pound.

Admission to the event on June 21 is by donation. Doors open at 11am.H
