THEY were singing in the rain at Colne Gala, and the sound was music to the organisers' ears.
A heavy shower signalled the start of the popular family day as a bevy of colourful floats, bands and dancers were marshalled into place.
Young Scouts and Brownies, hospital volunteers, pub and club regulars, shopworkers and young actors from Pendle Youth Theatre packed onto every size and shape of wagon to make their way along the streets to the gala field at Alkincoats Park.
Some of the biggest cheers went to Colne Operatic Society, who were promoting their latest show Singing in the Rain.
On the field, Burnley goal ace Paul Barnes was welcomed by Pendle's Mayor, Councillor Jo Belbin, and crowned Michelle Metcalfe as the new gala queen.
Attractions for the crowds included displays of cowboy skills and line dancing, performances by the majorettes, brass bands and a dog training demonstration.
