ALL the residents of Croich Hey old folks home have been safely resettled.
The much-loved Hawkshaw home finally closed its doors last Friday after being shut down by councillors desperate to balance the books.
Mr David Ashworth, director of social services, said there had been no major problems and everyone had settled in to their new homes reasonably well. Most of the staff have taken early retirement.
Describing the closure as an unenviable task, he told members at Tuesday's committee meeting that the move out had gone as well as such a sad event could.
Croich Hey is now on the market and council leaders hope to raise £300,000 from the sale, £70,000 of which will be ploughed back into social services.
