PARENTS who led a successful battle to get their children places at the school of their choice will not get any compensation.
The Local Government Ombudsman said seven sets of parents were right to complain about council maladministration over a fight for places at Tottington High School.
And she ordered Bury Council to pay them compensation of up to £200 each after winning the argument.
The Ombudsman found the council and the school guilty of maladministration after the youngsters were refused places.
But this week the council's education committee said they would not pay.
They agreed that the authority was "acting in good faith and in the interest of the family of schools".
All the children involved have got places at the school, and the Ombudsman has no power to force the council to pay compensation.
