FLY tippers will face prosecution for dumping waste in Every Street in Bury.
So revealed the council's environmental health department which has installed closed circuit television cameras to monitor late night activity on the street which leads to the Fernhill waste collection depot.
The CCTV move follows a day-long clean-up operation on Wednesday when Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority removed rubbish lining Every Street.
The waste pile has been allowed to build up over a period of six months after families on the council's caravan park dumped tree branches on the street to deter other travellers from illegally camping on the road.
Commercial waste handlers and members of the public added to the problem, turning the busy road into a single-lane street.
Mr Peter Taylor, principal environmental health officer with Bury Council, said the accumulation of waste materials on Every Street was a recurring problem but efforts were being made, in conjunction with the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority and the Environment Agency, to find a permanent solution.
