STAGE fright will be nothing compared to the ghostly goings on in store for four Burnley people who have agreed to spend Saturday night in Chingle Hall.

The hall, at Goosnargh, near Longridge, is reputed to be Britain's most haunted house, with sightings of monks and reports of footsteps.

Briercliffe hairdresser Howard Rogers is used to nerves, being a senior director with St James' Players, but he confessed: "The more I hear about the hall the more I am getting the jitters! Although we will be stopping overnight I don't think I'll get any sleep."

Howard will be accompanied by his wife Joan and friends Lorraine Walsh and Craig Fort.

They have agreed to be frightened to raise money in memory of singer Chrissie Barnes, who died earlier this year from cancer. One of Chrissie's last performances was to be musical director for St James' production of Alice In Wonderland.

They discussed the fund-raiser with Chrissie and she thought it was a great idea. The money will go to the breast cancer appeal at the Christie Hospital, Manchester.

The foursome have already been sponsored by about £500 to spend a night in the hall and anyone who wants to back the ghost busters can contact Howard on 01282 422678.
