GOOD OL' Boys Tony Ashmore and Steve "Gabby" Hayes crossed the Atlantic to team-up for a pint.
The two ex-Leigh Grammar pupils now live in the USA but hadn't seen each other since they walked out of the school gates for the last time a quarter of a century ago.
Well-Red United fan Tony , Los Angeles-based purchasing controller with Princess Cruise Liners, and Washington-based IT contracting executive Gabby, flew the Atlantic to meet up again with a bunch of "old" grammar-bugs.
The reunion brought together 40 ex- Leigh Grammar School pupils - many who hadn't met since they left school in 1972.
"It was fantastic," said organiser Dean Culshaw, who hopes the event staged at the Bowling Green Inn will be the first of many.
"We aim to arrange something special for the Millenium. I don't think I would survive if they were held too regularly!"
Adding to a nostalgic atmosphere were former teacher Eric Wilkinson, a smattering of old sporting photographs and a 1967 staff line-up kindly loaned by former school secretary Mary Fox.
Joint organiser Pete Hodkinson says even better things are in store:" It was mainly football and rugby lads who turned-up. Nobody wanted to go home, it was a great night!
"We even had Jacko and Keeney squaring up to each other, just like the old days...."
